''If we all spoke the same language there would be fewer conflicts and wars''

Could you imagine the world just speaking one language? I have no clue about how it would be like but I think it could be helpful in some ways.
The idea itself would be great! It would end a lot of controversy and the need for translations. In this way people could comunicate with ease and reduce misunderstandings. Having different languages implies barriers between people, they make it harder to understand one another and increases the level of ignorance which already exists between nations.
Even if there are some advantages regarding to this statement,I personally doubt that it would prevent wars. Why? Because we are billions and because we instinctively split into groups. People will always not agree about one thing or another. It would be impossible for everyone to agree with everything. Speaking the same language doesn't mean that there would be fewer or more conflicts. They simply come from differences of opinions and ideologies.
A good example could be the situation of the former Yugoslavia, when the Serbs and the Bosnias even though they spoke the same language, they didn't stop from trying to wipe each other out. Also Americans from the Northen and Southern U.S. states had a common language but it didn't stopped them from fighting in the civil war.
Also, one of the major drawbacks would be the loss of culture. We would lose our diversity and even the meaning of everyday things such as food and it would be really sad to lose our own identity.
Therefor,it's hard to belive that this thing will happen one day in the future because the differences are actually the beauty of the world we live in!
